Welcome to the White Sands Soaring Association (WSSA). Our club was formed in 1959 by a group of people with a keen interest in soaring.  We’ve been in continuous operation ever since (see our History). Our purpose is to promote the art, science, fellowship and joy of soaring.  We are located on the Alamogordo – White Sands Regional Airport and are open every Saturday and Sunday, year round.

Start your adventure here with these two short videos from the British Gliding Association that explain the basics of gliders and glider clubs

How a Glider Works      How a Gliding Club Works

Soaring is a challenging and enjoyable sport.  Whether an experienced glider pilot, never been in the air or somewhere in between, we are ready for you to fly with us.  You can experience this quiet and spectacular method of flying by signing up for a Demonstration Flight.  We promise you an unforgettable experience over the beautiful mountains and deserts of Southern New Mexico – “The Land of Enchantment”.
