WORLD RECORD CLAIM ABOVE 60,000 FEET ON AUGUST 26, 2018

To say it was a remarkable day is an understatement. It was a world record-setting day! On Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, Airbus Perlan Mission II soared to 65,605 feet (19,996 meters) pressure altitude. With support from capcom, Chief Pilot Jim Payne and Pilot Miguel Iturmendi soared in the Perlan 2 glider at more than 12 miles above the earth. It’s a new world record, pending official verification. Here’s a look at footage from our tail camera at high flight.

Operations at Non-Towered Airports

Some time ago Lance wrote about an article:
Here’s a pamplet from AOPA that describes the kind of operations that we perform. There have been a few incidents lately. It turns out that this pamphlet explains how things ought to be accomplshed. And they happen to match what we were discussing after those incidents! So the point is that we do fly our normal operations correctly. But that doesn’t mean that everyone else does! Good information from about a 10 minute read. Take the time to do that!
