How to Find and Stay on Lift Lines
It was focused on thermal and cross country soaring covering practical beginner-level to advanced material and presented by ERIC CARDEN.
HOW TO FIND AND STAY ON LIFT LINES covers parallel-to-the-wind, long-run “lift lines”, such as are present on most soaring days with moderate wind. The light lift in these lines can greatly extend a glider’s reach and promotes thermals, making them popular thermal hang-outs. A basic understanding of how to detect and stay on lift lines can have the same effect as doubling your glider’s glide ratio – when you’re on a lift line, at least. This is Part 1 of a two-part series on lift lines. Part 2 is a discussion of advanced lift line concepts. (Condor V1 doesn’t simulate lift lines, so unfortunately there are no lift line exercises in the course yet.)
