Pre-takeoff checks (generic)

A – altimeter set to correct elevation

B – Seat belts and shoulder harnesses fastened and tightened

C – Controls checked for full and free movement

C – Cable or towrope properly connected to the correct hook

C – Canopy closed, locked, and checked

D – Dive brakes closed and locked

D – Direction of wind checked and emergency plan reviewed

Emergency procedures (towrope break or release)
– below 200 ft AGL, land straight ahead
– between 200 ft and 500 ft AGL, turn back towards runway
– above 500 ft AGL, fly a modified pattern

Aborted takeoff
– pull the release
– land straight ahead
– decelerate using wheel brakes
– prepare to maneuver to the right side
