Flight tracks from gps recordings may be posted on the website. This is useful when describing a flight in a posting. (See Posts under ‘Flight Stories’). The track is plotted over a Google map along with an elevation graph. The format needed for this is a gpx file. Most soaring flights are of the *.igc format but these can be converted to *.gpx using facilities such as GPS Visualizer (http://www.gpsvisualizer.com) or other. An example of flight track is shown below. You can get information on height and position using your mouse cursor.
