To say it was a remarkable day is an understatement. It was a world record-setting day! On Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, Airbus Perlan Mission II soared to 65,605 feet (19,996 meters) pressure altitude. With support from capcom, Chief Pilot Jim Payne and Pilot Miguel Iturmendi soared in the Perlan 2 glider at more than 12 miles above the earth. It’s a new world record, pending official verification.
